13th IASFCP Symposium - Modena, September 2019 - Second circular

Please find here the SECOND CIRCULAR of the 13th International Symposium on Fossil Cnidaria and Porifera, to be held in Modena, Italy, on September 3-6, 2019.

We want to highlight some important aspects and deadlines:
- GRANTS to attend the congress
Thanks to the financial support of the Palaeontological Association, grants covering costs of registration fees (in form of refund) will be offered to PhD, graduate and undergraduate students who lack funds to attend the congress. Please follow the instructions available on the Congress website and send your application ("grants application" in the heading of the e-mail) to: info.13thfossilcnidaria@unimore.it before 15 March 2019.
- ABSTRACT submission
Abstracts will have to be submitted by email ("abstract submission" in the heading of the e-mail) to: info.13thfossilcnidaria@unimore.it, before 30 April 2019. The guidelines and template for abstract preparation and submission are given on the Congress website.
- EARLY REGISTRATION, FIELD TRIPS and PAYEMENT OF FEES
Early registration for congress and field trips is requested before 30 April 2019. As field trips will be organized according to a min. and max. n° of participants, places will be granted in strict order of registration. Thus we invite you to register in advance to book a place for your favorite excursion/s. Payment of total fees is due by 15 May 2019, after receiving from the Organizing Committee a letter with instructions for payment. In case of cancelled field trips or overbooking, participants will be informed before the payment deadline.
- CONGRESS PROCEEDINGS
In the Registration Form we ask you to inform us if you intend to contribute to the Conference Proceedings, which are are planned for publication in the 2nd issue of the regular series (2020) of the international peer reviewed journal Bollettino della Società Paleontologica Italiana. We warmly invite you to submit your manuscripts! Further details and instructions will be available on the Congress website.

13th IASFCP Symposium - Modena, September 2019 - invitation and the first circular

We are pleased to announce the 13th International Symposium on Fossil Cnidaria and Porifera, to be held in Modena, Italy, on September 3-6, 2019.

For the first time organized in Italy, the Symposium aims to bring together participants from all over the world to discuss and share the most recent advances of studies on fossil corals and sponges, coral reefs and associated biota. The theme for the upcoming Symposium "LOOKING BACK TO SEE AHEAD" highlights the importance of the fossil archives to understand response of the biosphere to long term environmental perturbations. We promote interdisciplinary approaches from a body of interested paleontologists, biologists but also scholars in other disciplines, and aim to push new boundaries for coral science.
